H.E. Michelle Müntefering

Michelle Müntefering has been Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office since 14 March 2018. She was born in Herne on 9 April 1980. From 1997 – 1998, she was training as a kindergarten teacher. In 2000, she earned her Higher Education Entrance Qualification. She holds B.A. in Journalism Studies. Since 2002, she was the Depute Chair of SPD in Herne. Between 2004 to 2014, she held the position as the Member of the SPD Executive Committee of Land North-Rhine Westphalia.

From 2004 to 2013, she was a member of the Herne City Council. From 2008-2010, she completed her Traineeship at Vorwärts Verlagsgesellschaft, in Berlin. From 2008-2009, she was a Research Assistant at the German Bundestag. And since 2013, she became a Member of the German Bundestag.

Since June 2015, she held a position as the Vice-President of the Deutsch-Turkische Gesellschaft e. V. Berlin. From 2015-2017, she was the Spokesperson of the SPD Parliamentary Group on Cultural Relations and Education Policy.
